On December 8, 2025, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï hosted a special U.S. Ambassador Talks event at the CH MakerSpace, marking the 10th anniversary of the C5+1 diplomatic platform.
The discussion focused on the achievements of the C5+1 initiative over the past decade, including its milestone Washington, D.C. summit, where the heads of all C5+1 member countries met with U.S. President Donald Trump. This historic meeting underscored the growing importance of regional cooperation between the United States and Central Asia.
Members of the C5+1 Youth Council, including ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students, were present at the event, highlighting the role of youth engagement in international diplomacy. The C5+1 was presented as a unique diplomatic platform that brings countries together to foster dialogue, cooperation, and shared development.
Speakers addressed digital connectivity and the development of the IT sector across Central Asian countries, outlining key challenges and the approaches the U.S. State Department is taking to address them in partnership with regional governments. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of empowering young people interested in international affairs and creating opportunities for a more connected and prosperous Central Asia.
During the event, appreciation was expressed to President O’Connor, faculty, and students for upholding the core values of the C5+1 initiative-respect, collaboration, and mutual understanding. The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing students to engage directly with the speakers.
The C5+1 is a regional diplomatic platform bringing together the Government of the United States and the governments of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Established in 2015, the C5+1 aims to strengthen coordination between the United States and Central Asia in pursuit of a sovereign, prosperous, and secure region, capable of addressing shared challenges through partnership.
Since its inception, the C5+1 framework has expanded dialogue and cooperation at the ministerial level through expert consultations and thematic working groups. These working groups-focusing on economic cooperation, energy and environmental sustainability, and security—along with ongoing regional programs, trainings, and workshops, continue to contribute to tangible progress toward mutually agreed goals.
